The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) signed a Reciprocal Agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) on June 1, 2014 in Vancouver during the 97th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition. The Agreement recognises the common objectives and interest in chemical and related fields, and declares cooperation in activities that advance the chemical sciences and it contributes to the future successes of CSC and RSC.

The provincial chemistry associations of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia launched a new Federation of Canada’s Professional Chemists (FCPC) in Vancouver on Sunday, June 1. 2014. The role of the provincial bodies is primarily to deal with existing and pending provincial legislation and regulations and to make sure that their individual provincial members meet the professional chemistry qualifications that provincial governments expect.
Dr. B. Mario Pinto has been appointed President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), effective fall 2014. This was announced on June 17 by James Moore, Minister of Industry, and Ed Holder, Minister of State (Science and Technology).
