Global Patents: An Introduction to International Intellectual Property

Intellectual property can be a key business asset for any entity and can provide significant commercial value. For most entities involved in the chemical art, patents can help provide protection for an invention, while aiding in their monetization. The presentation will provide a brief introduction to patents, types of patents, and criteria for assessing patentability. This will be followed by a discussion on the different routes to global patent protection, with a discourse on the pros and cons of the different routes.
The CSC/ACS Memorandum of Understanding promotes collaboration between the two societies to offer continuing education programs. Our first initiative is the "Global Patents: An introduction to international intellectual property" webinar on June 16. Presenter and CSC member Kazim Agha is a patent agent and partner with Ridout & Maybee LLP, and Past-chair of the CIC Toronto Local Section.
Laboratory Safety Course
The Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) is proud to partner with the Laboratory Safety Institute (LSI) to offer a two-day laboratory safety course to members. This course provides an in-depth look at the fundamentals of lab safety and effective lab safety programs. You will learn to identify and manage common laboratory hazards; many of which you may never have considered.
