Steven Holdcroft received a BSc from the University of Salford, UK, his PhD from Simon Fraser University, under supervisor, Lionel Funt in photoelectrochemistry and NSERC postdoctoral training at the University of Toronto under supervisor, James Gulliet in polymer photochemistry. He joined SFU in 1990 and is currently chair of the Department. In 2000, he was honoured with SFU’s highest teaching award. From 2001-2013, he accepted partial secondment to NRC’s Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation to assist in the implementation of a strategic plan for its fledgling national FC program. In 2012, he established a NSERC-Automotive Partnership Canada national network “Catalysis Research for Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (CaRPE-FC)” for academic/industry/government researchers, and is its current technical director. He serves on several research and editorial advisory boards, and on the board of directors of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association. He is a member of the NSERC Committee on Grants and Scholarships and chair of the Chemistry Evaluation Group 1504. He served as technical program chair of Pacifichem 2010 and is the Congress vice-chair and technical program chair of Pacifichem 2015. An elected Fellow of the CIC, he is a recipient of the Macromolecular Science and Engineering Award (2010).
