Steve Winter completed his BSc in chemical physics in 2009 from the University of Waterloo, having undertaken NSERC-USRA undergraduate research projects with Tong Leung and Richard Oakley. He continued work with the Oakley group as a PhD student and NSERC scholar, exploring the optical, magnetic, and electronic properties of organic radical materials. During this time, he also conducted research at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and Florida State University as a visiting scholar, studying the magnetic resonance response of organic spin systems. Winter has contributed to over 20 papers in the field of organic electronic, magnetic, and photoactive materials. He is currently an NSERC post-doctoral fellow working with several groups at Goethe University, Frankfurt on the synthesis, study, and theoretical modeling of spin-orbit coupled organic and inorganic materials.
